We had a great week seeing our returning students and getting to know our new students. We've begun learning about our new house system, reviewing school expectations, and getting a strong start on the learning we will be doing this year!

Attendance has academic impacts. Missing school leads to missing lessons and gaps in learning. The more school missed, the harder it is to catch up.

School relationships are important. It's harder to develop trusted relationships and a school community that is essential to long-term school success if students aren't present.

Absences can have long-term effects. It all adds up! Missing just one day per week over the course of a school year amounts to an entire month of school missed.

La asistencia tiene repercusiones académicas. Faltar a clases provoca que los estudiantes se pierdan lecciones y desarrollen lagunas en su aprendizaje. Cuantas más clases se pierdan, más difícil resulta ponerse al día.

Bremerton School District is committed to supporting every student's social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. SEL screening provides school staff with valuable information about how students are feeling, interacting with others, and engaging at school.

The results help schools better understand student needs at both the individual and school-wide levels. This information is used to create supportive learning environments, identify students who may benefit from additional support, and guide school-wide planning to help all students succeed.

Families who do not want their child to participate in the SEL screening may opt out by contacting their child's homeroom teacher or school counselor before September 7, 2026. The teacher or counselor will explain the opt-out process and ensure the student is not included in the screening.
